Chatteris Community PopUp – STEM in the Fens

Welcome to our Chatteris PopUpScience Centre. 

We are open for families and young people each day from 10.00am to 3.30pm.  Drop in and join us at any time - entry is FREE.

We will be discovering different scientific concepts through our shows and activities each day in a fun and interactive way. There will be plenty of time to explore our hands-on exhibits too, and our Science Communicators will be on hand to answer any questions you have.

11am  Sun, Sea and Science

It's Summer - the sun is shining, the days are long, schools out and we can go play at the beach! Take a science-y look at a trip to the sunny seaside  and investigate why  we use sunscreen, how salty the sea is, and how to make the best sandcastle!

2pm  Plankton challenge

Plankton are a diverse group of living things that live in large bodies of water like the oceans who are unable to swim against the current. Plant plankton, or phytoplankton, live near the surface of the ocean as they need sunlight to make energy. Zooplankton need to stay in the same zone as their food. Find out how difficult it is to stay in the correct zone in this sink or float activity.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer at all times. Most suitable for children aged 7-11 years.  Younger siblings will be able to join in with some adult support.

You will find us on the First Floor. You can take either the lift or the stairs!
