Chatteris Community PopUp – STEM in the Fens

Welcome to our Chatteris PopUpScience Centre. 

We are open for families and young people each Saturday and Sunday from 10.00am to 3.30pm.  Drop in and join us at any time - entry is FREE.

We will be discovering different scientific concepts through our shows and activities each day in a fun and interactive way. There will be plenty of time to explore our hands-on exhibits too, and our Science Communicators will be on hand to answer any questions you have.

11am  Same but different

Meet Darwin and his family - why do they look alike? And how come we all look a bit the same - but different?    Look into his famous voyage on The Beagle and how that helped him formulate his theory of evolution. Packed full of fun games and demos, this show gives you a chance to be a part of a 5 billion year old story!

2pm  Paper Beetles

Beetles are so varied that they make up 40% of all species of insect and 25% of all species of animals on Earth! There are currently recorded 350,000 different species of beetle that have been discovered, but it's very likely that there are many more out there waiting to be found. Find out a bit more about some of them and then design your own - who knows, there might be one just like it somewhere?

Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer at all times. Most suitable for children aged 7-11 years.  Younger siblings will be able to join in with some adult support.

You will find us on the First Floor. You can take either the lift or the stairs!
