About the event

Join us for some family fun at The Grand Arcade, Cambridge.

We will be exploring the seasonal changes as we move into Spring and discovering why it is the perfect season for growth and new life through our shows and activities.

In readiness to celebrate DNA Day on 25 April, we will also be discovering more about this important subject through our new show, Genome Explorer and various activities.  Genome Explorer has been kindly sponsored by Illumina Foundation and will be featured on several days throughout the holiday.

Our hands-on, interactive exhibits will be available for you to investigate and learn more about the incredible world of engineering.

Today’s shows:

11.30am Springing into Life

It's Spring! But what does that mean? In this fun show find out why days get longer, why it starts to warm up, and why animals have their young in Spring. Build an egg and discover out why they're so important. See which animals are the "springy-est" and can jump the furthest - can you jump further than an Elephant? Wait and see!

2.30pm Choc full of Science

Indulge your senses as the Cambridge Science Centre team explores the science behind your favourite chocolate bar. Find out what it’s made of, how it’s made, what it does to you, and take part in some fun demonstrations  - all in the name of chocolate and science!

Make something a little different with our activities today!

12.30pm  Building Bridges

There are lots of bridges around Cambridge! In this activity, we take a look at the different types of bridges, the forces that act on them and might cause them to break, and how we can manipulate these to make bridges stronger. There's a take home activity, too!

3.30pm  Strawberry DNA

Strawberries have 8 copies of their DNA meaning there's lots for us to extract! Find out how and learn a bit more about this special molecule.

Please note that the Centre on Clifton Road is closed over this period.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer at all times.
