Building Blocks Students will be working scientifically to:
– Expand their knowledge of their local area and where it is within the UK

Curriculum Links Students will be working scientifically to:
– Extend their knowledge and understanding beyond the local area to include
the United Kingdom and Europe, North and South America.
– Locate the world’s countries, using maps to focus on Europe and North and South America, concentrating on their environmental regions, key physical and human characteristics, countries, and major cities
– Describe and understand key aspects of: physical geography, including: climate zones, biomes and vegetation belts, rivers, mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes, and the water cycle
– Understand key aspects of: human geography, including: types of settlement and land use, economic activity including trade links, and the distribution of natural resources including energy, food, minerals and water

Beyond the Curriculum Students will have the opportunity to:
– Investigate the impact of humans on the environment
– Understand the role of satellites in monitoring our planet
