Blast Off to Adventure: Space-themed fun this half term!

Get ready for an out-of-this-world experience as we bring the wonders of space to life at Cambridge Science Centre this half term!

With exciting hands-on activities, interactive space-themed lab activities plus our fun and engaging daily ‘Moonshot’ show, there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Perfect for aspiring young astronauts, our space-themed week will take them on a journey to the stars and beyond.

‘Moonshot’ – our show for this special week.

The Artemis program is a NASA-led mission to send people to the moon, create a base there and eventually send astronauts to Mars! Find out more about this ground-breaking mission as we explore how rockets are launched, investigate the anatomy of a space rocket, and look into some of the difficulties the astronauts might face in their quest to establish a base on the Moon.

Discover a Planet

Our Lab Activity is all about planets! Can you interpret the data and discover what a newly discovered planet looks like? Examine spectra data to understand what colours the new exoplanet is, consider what this means for what the planet is made off, and then design what this planet could look like!

SPECIAL EVENT

Tuesday 18 February

A Lab Takeover by Astex Pharmaceuticals.

Some of their scientists have left their labs on the science park to share their science with you!

Come along to have a go at some crystallisation experiments that reflect the work they do to discover new medicines and celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

The Lab Takeover will replace our ‘Discover a Planet’ Lab activities on Tuesday 18 February only.

Our space and activities are most suited for children aged from 5-11 years.  Of course, younger siblings are welcome to come along too!
