Join us for at our STEMtots sessions, specially designed for preschool children!
These free-flow, hands-on mornings encourage young children to explore science through play. This session is all about ‘Dinosaurs‘ STEMtots session, with open-ended activities to spark discover and wonder.
Here’s a sneak peek at what your child can explore:
Thawing Out Frozen Dinosaurs
Oh no – the dinosaurs are trapped in ice! Using warm water and pipettes, children will melt the ice to free their prehistoric pals, learning about temperature changes and cause and effect in a fun, sensory-filled activity.
Dinosaur Footprints
What kind of tracks do dinosaurs leave behind? Using dinosaur models and paint, little explorers will stamp footprints onto paper, creating trails and patterns while discovering how scientists use fossils to learn about these ancient creatures.
Dig for a Dinosaur
It’s time to become a real palaeontologist! Armed with brushes and small tools, children will dig through sand to uncover hidden dinosaur bones and fossils, experiencing the thrill of a dinosaur discovery while developing fine motor skills.
Dinosaur Jigsaws
Can you put a dinosaur back together? With dinosaur-themed jigsaw puzzles, little ones will piece together their favourite prehistoric creatures, encouraging problem-solving and early spatial awareness.
STEMtots sessions are the perfect way to nurture curiosity and introduce early scientific thinking through messy play and discovery.
Run in blocks of six sessions during term-time, each session will revolve around a different theme. Sessions can be booked individually or as a block (with a small discount). They are free flow sessions so you can turn up at any time during the session.
Our Science Communicators will be on hand throughout each session to help you and your family explore our exhibits and get the most out of our activities.
Sessions are designed to involve parents/carers so we do ask that you stay with children. Ticket price includes one child and one adult attending each session. Younger siblings are welcome to attend free of charge.
