Join us for at our STEMtots sessions, specially designed for preschool children!
These free-flow, hands-on mornings encourage young children to explore science through play. This session is all about splishy, splashy, sensory-filled ‘Under the Sea’ STEMtots session, with open-ended activities to spark discover and wonder.
Here’s a sneak peek at what your child can explore:
Sea Creatures in Coloured Foam
What’s hiding beneath the waves? In this squishy, bubbly activity, children will search through coloured foam to find hidden sea creatures, developing their sensory and fine motor skills while discovering different animals that live under the sea.
Magnetic Fishing Fun
Can you catch a fish? With magnetic fishing rods, little ones will test their skills by fishing for colourful sea creatures, helping them develop hand-eye coordination and problem-solving as they reel in their underwater friends.
Colour Sorting Fish
Red, blue, yellow, green – can you match the fish to the right colour? This fun activity encourages children to sort fish by colour, reinforcing early colour recognition and sorting skills through playful learning.
Sink or Float?
What sinks to the bottom of the ocean, and what stays on the surface? Using different objects, children will predict and test whether they sink or float, learning about buoyancy and water in an exciting, hands-on way!
STEMtots sessions are the perfect way to nurture curiosity and introduce early scientific thinking through messy play and discovery.
Run in blocks of six sessions during term-time, each session will revolve around a different theme. Sessions can be booked individually or as a block (with a small discount). They are free flow sessions so you can turn up at any time during the session.
Our Science Communicators will be on hand throughout each session to help you and your family explore our exhibits and get the most out of our activities.
Sessions are designed to involve parents/carers so we do ask that you stay with children. Ticket price includes one child and one adult attending each session. Younger siblings are welcome to attend free of charge.
