Join us for at our STEMtots sessions, specially designed for preschool children!
These free-flow, hands-on mornings encourage young children to explore science through play. This session is all about Woodland Wonders, with open-ended activities to spark discover and wonder.
Here’s a sneak peek at what your child can explore:
Woodland Animal Dominoes
Who lives in the woods? Little learners will match woodland animals in a fun game of dominoes, helping them recognise different creatures while developing early problem-solving and pattern-recognition skills. Can they find all the pairs?
Bark Rubbing
What does tree bark feel like? Using crayons and paper, children will press and rub to reveal the unique patterns of bark, discovering the different textures of trees. This sensory activity helps develop observation skills and an appreciation for the natural world.
Dig for Woodland Creatures
What’s hiding beneath the bark? Using their hands and simple tools, children will dig through bark to uncover tiny woodland creatures, just like real nature detectives! This hands-on sensory activity encourages curiosity about the hidden world of bugs and insects.
Leaf Printing
Leaves come in all shapes and sizes! With paint and paper, little artists will press real leaves onto paper to create beautiful prints, exploring textures and patterns found in nature. What colours will they choose for their woodland masterpiece?
STEMtots sessions are the perfect way to nurture curiosity and introduce early scientific thinking through messy play and discovery.
Run in blocks of six sessions during term-time, each session will revolve around a different theme. Sessions can be booked individually or as a block (with a small discount). They are free flow sessions so you can turn up at any time during the session.
Our Science Communicators will be on hand throughout each session to help you and your family explore our exhibits and get the most out of our activities.
Sessions are designed to involve parents/carers so we do ask that you stay with children. Ticket price includes one child and one adult attending each session. Younger siblings are welcome to attend free of charge.
