'STEM in the Fens' in Wisbech

Welcome to our Wisbech PopUpScience Centre.

We will be open from 10:30am to 2:45pm so families will be able to enjoy free entry to explore our hands-on STEM-based exhibits, join in with our shows or have a go at one of our activities.

11:00am    Genome Explorers

Can you help our Genome Explorer track down a plant with potential medicinal properties? The show tells the story of a researcher in the field, collecting and tracking down samples of a medicinal plant. The samples are sent to a lab for analysis, then passed on to a second person in the lab who explains what DNA is and how to ‘read’ it, and more.

1:30pm      DNA Bracelets

We are all made of a remarkable individual code of genetic information, called DNA, which contains a set of instructions for our eye colour, hair colour and even our genders! Zoom in to DNA and get hands-on with a special craft activity to make a section of DNA from a selected species.

Find us at the old ARGOS shop from 10:30am - 2:45pm 

Drop in anytime and one of our Communicators will be on hand to guide you through a journey of hands on exploration. No need to book.
