A day in the life of...
Grace recently joined us for a short period as part of a work experience placement from her school.
She commented on her time by saying: "I came to Cambridge Science Centre for a one-week work experience placement, through this I have learned various skills which I can apply in the future and I am very grateful to have had this opportunity! I have had chance to speak to nearly all the members of staff and have an overview of their role and an insight into the day to day work and how it is done.
Throughout my placement I have been very lucky to see one of the PopUp Science sites located in Ramsey along with assisting a maths workshop with the children. I also had chance to watch two different shows at a local school, which was such a great experience just to see how well organised and prepared everything was. When I first came I had just about a rough idea about the business and had only really heard the name, after exploring the multiple venues, and seeing the workshop and online processes has really developed my understanding.
The team at the Centre has made me feel really welcome upon arrival and very flexible with accommodating me with my travel needs back to Ely, and making things work. I would definitely recommend Cambridge Science Centre for future work experience students or volunteers as I have gained lots from this experience!"
It is rare that we have the opportunity to welcome work experience placements, purely as our team are out on the road and incredibly busy. So, as it is a unusual event, it was lovely to have Grace join us. Thanks for your help, Grace and best of luck for the future.
