Senses

Aargh or aaaah, yuk or yum? Examine how we sense the world around us as we test out our 5 senses and beyond, to look at some senses you might not have considered before. Investigate and play with your senses and find out how to confuse them – and you!

Students will work scientifically:

  • asking simple questions and recognising that they can be answered in different ways.
  • performing simple tests.
  • using their observations and ideas to suggest answers to questions.
  • gathering and recording data to help in answering questions.

Animals, including humans:
– identify, name, draw and label the basic parts of the human body and say which part of the body is associated with each sense.

Learning Objectives

Students will:

  • gain an understanding of their senses and the parts of their body that are associated with them
  • understand that our brain is responsible for interpreting the information from our senses
  • realise that it is possible to fool our brain by giving it conflicting information
